BEIJING, April 25 (Xinhua) -- Senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official Zhao Leji met with Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades on Thursday in Beijing.
Zhao, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, welcomed Anastasiades to the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation.
China is ready to work with Cyprus to advance the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative, strengthen the practical cooperation between the two sides and boost the bilateral ties to a new high, said Zhao, who is also secretary of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection.
Anastasiades said Cyprus has always firmly adhered to the one-China principle. He called for joint efforts to deepen cooperation in areas including economic, people-to-people, cultural and judicial fields, as well as science and technology and anti-corruption.
