LISBON, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- A readers' seminar on the book "Xi Jinping: The Governance of China" has been held here just days before Chinese President Xi Jinping's scheduled state visit to Portugal.

The book expounds the "China Road" toward modernization, the "China Value" centered on the people and China's approach to pushing for human development, said Wang Xiaohui, executive deputy head of the Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

The work provides an authoritative version to help the international audience better understand Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the CPC and China, said Wang, who is also vice director of the Policy Research Office of the CPC Central Committee.

Cai Run, Chinese ambassador to Portugal, said that Xi's book can further promote people's understanding of China's development philosophy and path as well as its internal and external polices, thus enabling people to understand China in a comprehensive, objective and reasonable way.

President Xi's book is indispensable for the comprehensive understanding of policies relating to China's society, economy, culture and diplomacy, said Jose Lamalho, president of the Portugal-China League of Multicentury Friendship.

The part of Xi's book on building a community with a shared future for mankind is very enlightening, said Maria Teresa Cid, co-director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Lisbon.

All the countries and peoples should understand and respect each other and resolve differences through dialogue and consultation in order to build a better world, she added.
